Although it is still pretty cold here in the Netherlands we can finally hope for some more sun in the upcoming days. At least, that is what my weather predictions are after hearing ‘Love the one you’re with’ by Pep & Rash today! You are probably all confused and wondering why a song can change the shitty weather all of the sudden, so let me explain…
‘Love the one you’re with’ is originally a song from the 70’s by an Afro-American band called the ‘Isley Brothers’. The duo thought it would be a great move by remixing the song into something really special for the upcoming summer. The combination of an up-tempo beat, a vibrant future drop and the old-school vocal really makes me jump out of my chair and start dancing.
I really like the different approach ‘Pep & Rash’ are taking with this new track. It may be somewhat ‘lighter’ than their previous creations, but I feel like this song can surely get a place on the bigger radio shows. For some reason the track reminds me of the early Michael Jackson songs when he was rocking in the Jackson five.
‘Love the one you’re with’ is just everything you need for a bright summer. It has a catchy melody, a great vocal and an awesome swing to it. The track made me feel better and let me realize summer is finally coming my way. Maybe I was hallucinating from all the nose sprays and cough drops I had this day, but I am pretty sure I spotted a ray of light trough the grey clouds when I played it through my speakers.
‘Love the one you’re with’ by Pep & Rash is out now through Spinnin’ Records, and is a must listen for every house fan. Check it out here, or get the mp3 via Beatport!
