Lost Kings are back again with another solid Tropical House hit with their latest track, Marathon! Lost Kings are a talented group, made up of Dr. No and Rob Gainley. These two cats, hailing from Los Angeles, CA (repping the USA), have been spreading their sound since mid-2014.
As it’s name implies, Marathon begs you to prepare for a journey with its deep island synths and soft, rhythmic beats. As if this isn’t enough, you get hit immediately with the “oohs” from Cosmos & Creature and the simple, yet appropriate piano riff, which both prepare you for what’s to come – a beautiful, sweeping example of some of the best that Tropical House has to offer.
As the song moves forward, led by Cosmos & Creature and their echoing voices, you start to really feel the emotional power that Marathon has to offer. With simple but powerful lyrics, “Carry on. Carry on. It’s a long marathon”, this track hits you deep in your heart. Marathon easily manages to inspire a smile and a sense of confidence when listening to it.
My Rating: Because of all this, I give Marathon a solid 8 out of 10 miles (or km for my non-US brethren and sistren).
Final Verdict: Marathon is what Tropical House is all about for me – slow, relaxed rhythms, happy highs, soft lows, and a message that is both uplifting and motivating. It’s a perfect track for a drive in the cool spring weather. Stay tuned for more from Lost Kings in The Good EP. I foresee a lot of good coming from them in the future.
